Trustee Bryant Garth Appointed Interim Director of the American Bar Foundation
Garth is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California-Irvine School of Law where he served as Interim Dean for the 2021-22 academic year.

Bryant Garth, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California-Irvine School of Law, will become the Interim Director of the American Bar Foundation (ABF), effective September 1, 2022. He has agreed to remain Interim Director until the ongoing director search is successfully completed.
Garth had previously served as Director of the ABF from 1990-2004, currently sits on the Executive Coordinating Committee of the “After the J.D.” project, and is an Affiliated Research Professor at ABF.He succeeds Ajay K. Mehrotra, who will stay with the ABF as a Research Professor and Professor of Law at Northwestern University.
Garth has been an active member of the Foundation Board of Trustees since July 2014, and was instrumental in helping to launch the "After the J.D." project as a collaboration among the American Bar Foundation, The NALP Foundation, and a number of other organizations.
