Cynthia Patton serves as General Counsel and Secretary for Tessera Therapeutics. Previously, she was General Counsel and Secretary at Verily Life Sciences, the healthcare subsidiary of Alphabet with over 1,500 employees focused on developing technology-based solutions in healthcare. Prior to joining Verily, she held several positions of increasing responsibility with Amgen, including Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Amgen’s global privacy, trade and healthcare compliance organizations where she managed a team of 160 colleagues.
Before joining Amgen, she spent seven years as general counsel of SCAN Health Plan, a California Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Prior to SCAN, Cynthia served as assistant general counsel of UniHealth and as a staff attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC. She began her legal career at Atlanta-based Alston & Bird in 1986 before moving to Los Angeles to work in law firms specializing in healthcare corporate and securities law.
Cynthia was the chair of the Amgen Foundation. She is currently a board member at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Music Center. Cynthia is also passionate about education and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Wildwood School, Vassar College. She has previously served as board chair of Watts Healthcare Corporation and Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center.
Cynthia received her BA from Vassar College and her JD from the National Law Center at George Washington University.
